The voters have spoken and Marty Meredith has won the republican nomination for Livingston County Sheriff over Ken White, in a close race. Meredith received a total of 3,240 votes to White’s 3,174. Meredith says it’s a humbling experience to win. CLICK FOR SOUND White is disappointed with the outcome. CLICK FOR SOUND There’s no word if the vote will be challenged but a recount is possible. During the campaign season, Meredith said he’s not just running for one term, but for the long haul while White pointed to his past experience. There was a 36.2 percent voter turnout in Livingston County Tuesday, which is up significantly from the last primary, involving a governor’s race back in 2006 when the turnout was only 19 percent.
