Ballot questions fail
Ballot questions fail

Both Pontiac school referendums have failed. The District 429 proposition to raise the tax rate to benefit the education fund failed 2,090 to 759. Last night, Grade School Superintendent Steve Graham said this means cuts will be prioritized at the March board meeting and after the cuts, the district will wait and see if there’s any state funding before possibly re-employing personnel and reinstating programs. Meanwhile, the District 90 proposition to issue bonds to help pay for building improvements failed 2,305 to 1,202. PTHS Superintendent Leo Johnson says programs will be put on hold now. CLICK FOR SOUND Those propositions asked voters if township trustees should pass a resolution opposing the approval of any wind energy special use permit filed with the county before January first of 2015. Voters were also asked in the townships should adopt a resolution that would require permit applicants to provide a property value guarantee and financial assurance.
