Uphoff tackles fleeing defendant
PEORIA - The republican nominee for Livingston County State’s Attorney put his former football skills to use last week.
Seth Uphoff is currently a felony prosecutor in Peoria County and apparently chased down and tackled a defendant who was being sentenced in court.
Farm Bureau awards scholarships
PONTIAC - The Livingston County Farm Bureau Foundation Board has announced the winners of the 2012 Farm Bureau Foundation/Ethel K. Hoerner Scholarships and the Livingston County Farm Bureau Foundation Elite Scholarship.
Plans for high-speed rail station revealed
PONTIAC - Designs for a new high-speed rail station were presented to members of the Pontiac City Council on Monday night.
The group viewed images of three different building designs, which included the shapes of a kite, teardrop and bullet.
Tri-Point School holds book fair
KEMPTON - The Tri-Point Elementary School book fair continues today, at the Kempton west gym from 7:30-8:10; 11:10-12:15; and 3-3:45. Also, a family and community book fair open house takes place from 5-8 p.m.
Grand opening held for art school
PONTIAC - The Grand Opening Ceremonies for the Dongbai International Airbrush Art School located at 425 West Madison Street in Pontiac, was held on Saturday.
A ribbon-cutting took place with the Mayor, members of the Pontiac City Council, Pontiac Tourism, The Pontiac Area Chamber of Commerce, and Pontiac P.R.O.U.D. in attendance.
City to discuss rail station design
PONTIAC - Members of the Pontiac City Council will learn about the design for a new rail station from the Illinois Department of Transportation during tonight’s regular meeting.

FLANAGAN - A fundraising tradition continues near Flanagan this weekend.
The Salem Charity and Horse Auction will be held on Saturday at Salem 4 Youth, which is a residential facility for teenage boys.
Local organization seeks board members
PONTIAC - A not-for-profit organization in Pontiac is asking others for their time and talents.
The Livingston Family Care Center is urging people to become a member of the center’s board of directors, as no prior experience or medical knowledge is required to serve on the board.
Rutherford’s Cash Dash to visit Dwight
DWIGHT - State Treasurer Dan Rutherford is encouraging Livingston County residents to attend his Cash Dash event in Dwight today (Wednesday).
Rutherford’s Cash Dash staff will be at the Dwight Village Hall, on South Prairie, from 11-1 to help local residents find out if they have unclaimed property.
Extension announces prison partnership
DWIGHT - The Livingston-McLean-Woodford County University of Illinois Extension office has announced a partnership with the Dwight Correctional Center.
A crew will oversee garden and composting projects at the facility. The collaboration began with the center being awarded a state grant for a large-scale worm composter.
