Cleopatra Used Hair Gel?

I just read a biography about Queen Cleopatra and I was amazed at all the “modern” things they had. The technology, the education. They boasted of the most magnificent library in Alexandria , not to mention, we still can’t figure out how they made those pyramids!  That is all understandable, but do archaeologists expect me to believe that ancient Egyptians used hair-gel? Yes indeed! British researchers studied  mummies finding evidence that they used fat-based products as hair-styling gel. They say the hair samples were examined under a microscope finding it had been treated with a substance made from plant and animal fatty acids.

The hairstyles were replicated on the mummies just as the deceased had worn in life. It makes sense since they believed in the afterlife the way that they did. I would die all over again if I woke in my tomb to find out that my hair hadn’t been done! Here I am dressed in my best, adorned with all my jewels my favorite pair of gladiator sandals on my feet. I have my favorite golden vase, figs and wine, not to mention my favorite hand-madien who’s own life was taken just to serve me in my death-state. All of this and my hair wasn’t done? You’ve got to be kidding me? What’s a Queen have to do get a hairdo around this desert? Geesh!
