Illini’s wheels have come off

A sign that the Illinois basketball program is in dire straits came to a head yesterday. A humiliating loss to the Nebraska Cornhuskers has all but collapsed the season.

The Illini lost to Nebraska 80-57. Any Illinois fan with eyes could see the sadness on the Illini bench as time ran down.

It will take a run in the Big Ten tournament for Illinois to make it to NCAA post season play. One can probably say that the coaching position is now open.

It doesn’t get any easier as next up on the schedule is Ohio State in Columbus on Tuesday.
