Impressive tourism numbers for Pontiac last week

A lot of people were in town for Saturday's grand opening of the new car museum in Pontiac (photo by Kent Casson/WJEZ).

This past week, there were 974 visitors counted at the Route 66 Museum Complex, 582 at the Waldmire Road Yacht and 2800 visitors at the Pontiac-Oakland Auto Museum.

The Pontiac Tourism Department reports that visitors came from 29 states this past week and 19 countries, including: Australia, New Zealand, Italy, Russia, the United Arab Emirates and Sweden.  Tour groups included the Cruising Tigers.

Pontiac’s newest museum, which is filled with classic autos, continues to do well in its first week of operation – with numerous visitors.
