Over-the-year unemployment continues to decline for Livingston County.

According to numbers released yesterday by the Illinois Department of Employment Security, the county’s unemployment rate went from 10.8 percent in April 2010 to 8.1 percent this April.  McLean County’s rate also dropped from 7.5 percent to 6.2 percent, while LaSalle County saw a drop from 13.5 to 10.9 percent.

The year over year unemployment rates fell in all Illinois metro areas for the eighth consecutive month.  IDES Acting Director Theresa Larkin says overall trends indicate that the economy is improving and moving in the right direction.
