Once his government fell in April of 2003, Iraqi President Saddam Hussein went on the run. He spent the next eight months in hiding. Where was he finally captured and who got him? Saddam Hussein was captured outside his home village of Tikrit by elements of the U.S. Army’s Fourth Infantry Division. The man who vowed to fight to the end was discovered hiding in a hole upon which time he surrendered. Saddam’s tyrannical reign (what was left of it) ended on that day. However, it would be another three years until he was executed by hanging for his crimes. The rest of our history for today is courtesy of Wikipedia.
