PONTIAC – A winter weather advisory is in effect for much of Central Illinois through early Friday morning.
The National Weather Service says snowfall totals between four and eight inches are possible and in addition to falling snow, winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph are expected through tonight. This will result in blowing and drifting snow. Wind chills are also expected to be zero to 10 below by Friday morning.
The accumulating snow and reduced visibilities will result in poor travel conditions this morning, with travel becoming treacherous by later today into tonight.
Authorities say to use caution when traveling on slick roads and allow plenty of time to arrive at your destination, if you must travel. Keep your radio on WJEZ 98.9 FM and keep checking wjez.com for further weather updates and cancellation information.
