A variety of police agencies are still investigating a highway incident that caused damage to several vehicles on Saturday morning on Interstate 55. The accident seriously injured two people and caused minor injuries for several others. White-out conditions near Gardner in Grundy County appear to have made a significant contribution to the chain reaction accident, but police still haven't determined what triggered the event. Preliminary reports say over 20 vehicles were affected by the collision that happened at about 11 o'clock Saturday morning. Traffic in the southbound lanes of Interstate 55 was blocked for several hours as the damaged vehicles were removed. Two people involved had serious injuries that required hospital treatment. Others involved either had only minor injuries or were treated and released.
