For nearly a year now, area residents have seen fliers plastered all around advertising the Alexis’ Angels Benefit planned for this Saturday at Freakster’s Roadhouse from 2 to 7 p.m.
The 17-year-old high school student, Alexis Flynn, has been active in cheerleading and other sports and has kept active throughout her entire life of dealing with several health issues. She was diagnosed with autosomal recessive polycystic disease and Carolis Disease when she was only two days old. Through several years of new diagnoses and mounting health problems, the teen underwent a liver transplant at the end of March. Her mother, Korrin Giovingo, said Flynn is recovering very well.
Alicia Daley, one of the event coordinators, said the benefit is choc full of activities for people of all ages to enjoy. The goal is lofty, but Daley said the public has already shown how supportive they are of Flynn.
The goal right now, which will cover medical costs for Flynn and the donor, is $200,000, but the group said they’d be thrilled with $80,000.
The Big Kahuna will be DJing the event, Jake Carr will be there with his photo booth, a silent auction, 50/50 raffles and a pie throwing booth will also be there
Tickets are on sale now for $15. Tickets are $20 at the door. Those tickets include dinner and a chance to win a 48-inch flat screen TV.
