Local Wold War II Vet Shares His Story in New Wartime Documentary

By Todd Wineburner/WJEZ Morning Show

A documentary focusing on the life and wartime experiences of long-time Livingston County resident John Amm received a very warm welcome at Pontiac’s Crescent Theaters over the weekend. Nearly 300 people attended two showings of “The Greatest Honor,” produced by John Amm’s son Roger Amm. Kane Farabaugh took care of all of the creative and technical requirements of the production.

The two men embarked on the project as a way of preserving John Amm’s wartime experiences for future generations. Farabaugh says it’s very gratifying to know that the stories won’t be lost. There are already plans for broadcasting the hour-long program, and Farabaugh says he’s hoping that eventually it will reach an even larger audience. “It’ll air on…WTVP on May 22nd,” Farabaugh says, “It’s a part of their Memorial Day weekend line-up. It’s only going to air once on WTVP. We’re hoping to get a distribution deal and either have it available for ‘on-demand’ content somewhere, or ideally we would love to have it broadcast nationally.”

After Sunday’s screening a collection was taken to defray some of the costs of the production. You can help support the film by learning more about it at facebook.com/The Greatest Honor. There is also a fund raising effort under way at gofundme.com/TheGreatestHonor.
