The 26th annual Horse Auction at Salem4Youth south of Flanagan, is taking place starting at 8 a.m. Saturday.
Along with the auction, which will include more than 25 horses and begin at 1 p.m., vendors will be on-site with horse-related items and a silent auction will take place with a variety of items. David Davis and his trick horses will appear alongside a ferrier demonstration and a used tack sale.
Steve McNair and Miriam Steininger, of Salem4Youth, said the day is a fun-filled family event and they expect people will enjoy seeing the horses and what kind of interaction they have with the students at the ranch’s campus.
“In our stable, we have a quote by Winston Churchill, which says ‘The outside of a horse is good for the inside of man.’ And we’ve found that to be true for our young men. Initially they’re a little bit timid working with them, but Seth and Miriam do a good job calming their fears a little bit and they get to the end where they become friends,” McNair said.
The proceeds from the sale benefit the ministry at Salem4Youth. For more information, contact Jo Simmons at 815-796-4561.
