Today is Peace Officer Memorial Day, which is a chance for people across the United States to remember fallen police officers.
Pontiac Police Major Dan Davis said there are various events throughout the state and in Washington, DC, commemorating this designation.
“It’s near and dear to our heart, although it hits home more after our tragedy from 2013, but we continue to honor and support the fallen law enforcement officers,” Davis said.
Today, and every year on this date, flags will fly at half staff and officers will wear mourning bands on their badges.
