Bennett Supporting Term Limits

State Representative Tom Bennett joined other House Republican newcomers in supporting measures to allow voters to impose term limits on the General Assembly.

Bennett said he went to Springfield with the intent to make changes and not become a “lifetime legislator.” He said it’s past time to put this choice before voters as a constitutional amendment.

“I think term limits is something we really need to look at in the state of Illinois, especially for the leadership in the General Assembly and we really need to have that change where we have more movement back and forth across the leadership, but we also need term limits across the board,” Bennett said. “I think that would be helpful to our state.”

It is expected Governor Bruce Rauner will file his own proposal on the subject soon.
