A Livingston County Grand Jury returned two bills of indictment charging two former employees of Pontiac Correctional Center with official misconduct and obstructing justice.
Livingston County State’s Attorney Seth Uphoff said those charges state Angela Creech and Sherry Lasek allegedly violated rules on socializing with inmates or a relative or known close associate of an inmate. He said the charges are serious and socializing with inmates can cause potentially grave risks.
“Those types of relationships and socializations that can be going on can create great serious security risks for the prison,” Uphoff said. “It can put the other guards in danger. It can put the facility as a whole in danger. It becomes a chink in the armor when you’ve got someone who has now developed a personal relationship with an inmate.”
Uphoff was a guest on Community Forum with Todd Wineburner Friday, and the full interview can be found at WJEZ.com.
