Inmate Charged with Murder

A grand jury issued a bill of indictment Thursday charging Michael Bragg, inmate at Pontiac Correctional Center, with six counts of first degree murder.

Bragg was serving 22 years for aggravated criminal sexual assault when his cellmate, Fabian Carrillo, was found unresponsive in their shared cell.

Livingston County State’s Attorney Seth Uphoff described the scene from December 16, 2014.

“The two of them were housed together, and in the middle of the night, there was an incident that occurred and when the guards responded to the cell, they found that Mr. Bragg had strangled and killed his cellmate,” said Uphoff. “That’s a case that will now be coming down the pipeline now that it has been indicted by the grand jury and we’ll be dealing with that case as it goes through.”

Uphoff was a guest on Community Forum with Todd Wineburner Friday, and the full interview can be found at WJEZ.com.
