Johns, Kimpling elected state FFA officers

Two Livingston County FFA members were elected state officers yesterday during their state convention in Springfield.

Jordan Johns of Pontiac was named the new state treasurer. She said she is looking forward to the new job and has had a lot of great experiences in FFA in the past.

“I had the privilege of starting an ag peers program at Pontiac FFA. We worked with the special education within our school. I also had the privilege of representing Pontiac FFA with the Model of Excellence committee at the 2013 national convention,” Johns said.

The new state reporter, Kolton Kimpling, hails from the Woodland FFA chapter. Kimpling said his background on the farm aided in his appreciation for agriculture.

“I grew up on a family farm that raised corn and soybeans,” Kimpling said. “I’m from the agriculture background, but I’ve come to realize, through FFA, it is truly for everybody.”

They are joined by three other officers: Kade Hill, Connor Carmody and Susie Thompson.
