With foot and bicycle traffic increased during the summer months, Pontiac Police are urging residents to become familiar with Rules of the Road.
Pontiac Police Major Dan Davis said there have been several accidents in the past few years involving cars versus pedestrians or bicyclists. He suggests children always stay with adults who understand those rules.
Davis says, “It’s not just kids, yes there are adults who have no problem riding the wrong way on one way streets downtown and people in cars, who are used to the normal flows of traffic, with the one way streets. This unfortunately causes those accidents.”
Davis said the rules are similar in downtown Pontiac as other communities, but added there are signs posting that bicycles, rollerblades and skateboards are not permitted on sidewalks.
