The veterans at the Livingston County War Museum-Dal Estes Education Center are sending out a plea for people in the community to help them bring William Shatner to Pontiac.
Shatner, best known for his fame on the television 1960s television series Star Trek, is joining the Legion Riders on a trip down Route 66, beginning Monday, to help raise funds for the American Legion Legacy Scholarship, which helps the children of fallen service members.
Ed Long, president of the museum, said the group has known about this trip for about a month. They have been using social media to try to entice Shatner to the museum.
“We are calling out to everyone in the area to Tweet William Shatner and see if he could come by our museum,” Long said. “We all are very aware of his programs over the years and we’d just love to have him come by and meet the veterans.”
A video of their plea can be found at facebook.com/989wjez. Twitter and Facebook can be used to invite Shatner to the museum but including his Twitter handle @williamshatner.
