Move inoperable cars or risk tow

The City of Pontiac is taking steps to remedy unregistered and inoperable vehicles from the streets.

Pontiac Police Chief Jim Woolford said they are keeping in compliance with state laws and the city ordinance when it comes to those vehicles.

“Generally, how that process would work is if we notice one, we put a sticker on it. If it’s not remedied within seven days, a tow truck will come and pick it up. It would be an expense to someone. Make sure your vehicle is either somewhere else, out of sight, or update the registration on the vehicle and make sure they’re operable,” Woolford said.

Woolford said officers look for signs around those vehicles, such as flat tires, extreme damage that would render them inoperable and signs the vehicles haven’t been moved in a long time.

Woolford was a guest on Community Forum with Todd Wineburner Wednesday, and the full podcast of that interview is available at WJEZ.com
