Tammy Johns was honored yesterday afternoon as this year’s Athena Award winner, given by the Pontiac Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual Women in Business Conference
Johns accepted the award after the luncheon at Baby Bull’s Fine Dining and said she was very humbled.
“When I had found out I had won the Athena Award this year, I was humbled, surprised and honored, because there’s many women in our community and our community works together so well that I aspire and admire to be like. It was very exciting,” Johns said.
Honorable Judge Jennifer Bauknecht addressed the crowd and highlighted aspects of being a woman in a field dominated by men.
“It’s been challenging at times, but also very rewarding. I think women bring different personal characteristics and ideas to the table and for the most part, it’s been very rewarding,” Bauknecht said.
Johns became the 30th Athena winner.
