After an anonymous threat was made at Pontiac Township High School earlier last week, specifically targeting Friday as the date in question, the school stepped up security Friday to safeguard students and faculty from any threats.

School Superintendent Jon Kilgore said they have investigated the threat and feel there wasn’t any credibility to that threat, administration still took it seriously for safety’s sake.

“We have implemented some extra searches to the building. We’ve added some searches as students came in to the building. All bags were search. What was great was students were cooperative and many of them were appreciative of the fact that we were doing it. It really has been a very positive day and things are running very smoothly,” Kilgore said.

Kilgore said everything went well that morning and said they don’t have any reason to believe anything is going to happen, but they are acting and taking precautions because, he says, that’s just what they do.
