Area law enforcement officers are gearing up for this year’s Law Enforcement Torch Run to benefit Special Olympics Illinois, and the next fundraising opportunity is happening Friday at Dunkin Donuts in Pontiac.

‘Cop on a Rooftop’ will be happening from 5 to 2, and Pontiac Police Officer Derek Schumm, one of the organizers for the local leg of the torch run, said this new-to-Pontiac fundraiser will be a fun one.

“There’ll be one officer up on the rooftop. This year, we’ll have Chief Woolford and Major Davis taking turns throughout that timeframe. There’s not a certain amount of money that needs to be raised for them to get off the rooftop. Obviously, we’ll accept as much as we can during that timeframe,” Schumm said.

Schumm also donors will get a stainless steel coffee mug and a coupon for a free coffee from Dunkin Donuts with a $10 donation.

Dunkin Donuts is located at 1826 W. Reynolds Street.
