Protecting yourself from burglary

JAIL, LIVCOM, SHERIFF

By Cynthia Grau/WJEZ News

Livingston County has been experiencing a rash of burglaries in the past few months and the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department is giving information and advice to people who feel they may have been victims of burglary.

According to the department, they believe this is a multi-county burglary crew committing these crimes, which are described as “crimes of opportunity,” which means the people are entering unlocked or open areas, such as vehicles, sheds and homes. The criminals seem to walk away from locked doors without trying to force entry.

Officers are advising residents to keep all doors to homes, buildings and cars locked and to keep anything of value locked away, because these burglars are stealing things ranging from cars to items sitting in the open on the lawn.
