Five new mural displays will soon be gracing the grounds of Veterans Memorial Park, located in the 300 block of Main Street in Fairbury.

This project is a cooperative effort between the Fairbury Citizens Development Discussion Group and The City of Fairbury and sponsored by the Prairielands Foundation. Terry Zimmerman, chairman of the group, described the murals during a recent Community Forum.

“Those murals will depict several different historical aspects of Fairbury’s development over the years. These historical murals are going to depict the mining background, the racing background, the farming background and also individuals who played a critical part in the development of Fairbury,” Zimmerman said.

Zimmerman said the structures for the five murals are currently being set up and people can expect to see the finished product in about two weeks.
