If you think of someone as a friend, you assume they think of you the same way. Well… nope. A new study had people list their friends and say whether they were close friends or not. Then the researchers asked those friends how THEY felt about the person. And it turned out HALF of them disagreed about how close they were. Like, you might think of someone as a good friend and they might think of you as an acquaintance… or someone you think is an acquaintance might not like you at all. And that would be a big surprise to most of us, since 95% of the people in the study assumed all of their friendships were totally mutual.
