The Cubs scored six in the first and never looked back in a 12-3 pasting of the Cardinals. Michael Wacha has now lost five in a row. The teams square off in an afternoon game at Busch Stadium, Jake Arrieta against Carlos Martinez.

The White Sox got a rare sub-par outing from Chris Sale and lost to the Indians 6-2 in a battle of unbeaten pitchers as Josh Tomlin went to 7-0 with the win and Sale fell to 9-1. The Sox send lefty Jose Quintana to the mound against Indians right-hander Corey Kluber in today’s afternoon contest on the South Side.

The CornBelters battled back to tie but lost the road trip opener to the Gateway Grizzlies 5-4. The rematch is tonight at 7 in suburban St. Louis.

The Chiefs beat Kane County 4-0 as the Cardinals’ Jhonny Peralta went 2-for-3 in his fourth rehab start for the Chiefs.

In softball, Fisher and host LeRoy took 1A sectional wins. In 2A sectional play, host St. Joseph-Ogden eliminated Central Catholic 13-0 and Tolono Unity edged Eureka 6-5. 3A Regional at Washington, the hosts beat Bloomington 11-1 and Peoria Notre Dame outslugged U-High 11-10. Rock Island upset Normal Community 6-4 in the 4A Regional at East Moline. Normal West advanced with a 7-0 win over Danville at Pekin.

In baseball, LeRoy faces Henry-Senachwine in the 1A Sectional at Horenberger Field, Bloomington faces Washington tonight in the Metamora 3A Regional.

Girls soccer, Normal Community beat Minooka 3-2 on penalty kicks in the regional semifinal.

Oklahoma City beat Golden State 118-94 to lead the NBA Western Conference finals 3-1.

The Blues are in San Jose tonight for Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Western Conference finals with the Sharks leads 3-2. Pittsburgh beat Tampa Bay 5-2 to force Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals.
