The Pontiac Police held a Cop on the Rooftop fundraiser at Pontiac’s Dunkin Donuts, raising $3,500 to benefit the Special Olympics Illinois.
Pontiac Police Chief Jim Woolford explained what exactly the funds are being raised for.
“It’s a part of the Illinois Law Enforcement Torch Run and will go to the Special Olympics for Olympians to be able to participate in opportunities they may not otherwise have. We’re excited. The Torch Run is coming up the 9th and 10th of June. They will be running, walking and bike riding across the state down to Bloomington for the Summer Games,” Woolford said.
Woolford was also one of the lucky officers to sit on the roof for the day.
“For a great cause, I had a lot of fun up there. A lot of the athletes liked to look up and wave at us, so we had a great time,” Woolford said.
