The program “The Music of the Civil War” will have its first showing Friday at the Eagle Performing Arts and Conference Center in Pontiac.

Ron Selle and Darlene Agner are taking their exhibit from the second floor of the Old City Hall in Pontiac and moving it to the stage for two performances June 3 and 17.

Agner said music and songwriters were very prolific during the time of the Civil War.

“They were writing songs about events every day. We don’t know how they did it, but they did it. They produced a lot of sheet music at that time. People had instruments in their homes. They’d open their windows. Battlefields were right in their yards and you would still hear music coming from the homes during the battles,” said Agner.
