The June winner of the Pontiac Area Chamber of Commerce’s Yard of the Month was recently announced.

The yard of Carl and Sandy Schade at 130 Bungalow Place in Pontiac, was chosen through nominations received in May.

Carl Schade said the award was a surprise.

“We enjoy taking care of it. I enjoy working in it. My wife pretty much figures out where things go and I do it for her. She’s the brains of the outfit, really. She picks out the flowers and the shrubs and we have help with landscapers, too. This is what I like doing. I like being outside in the weather. I don’t work, I’m retired, so this is all I have to do,” Schade said.

Nominations are now being taken for the July Yard of the Month and can be done by calling the Chamber office at 815-844-5131.
