The Fairbury Woman’s Club is honoring the city’s 30th Citizen of the Year.
Carol Ely, secretary for the club, said Roger McDowell will receive the recognition this evening.
“He’s been active in the Fairbury VFW and the Forrest American Legion and he’s been a member of the VFW Color Guard for 22 years … it was his idea to come up with putting the flags in the park uptown and collected $3,000 from local merchants for the project … he’s just well known to all citizens in Fairbury,” Ely said.
The presentation will happen at 7 p.m. at Fairbury’s North Park Pavilion.
