Former Illinois State and Normal West standout pitcher Brock Stewart has been promoted to AAA Oklahoma City by the Dodgers. He started the season in Class A. Stewart was to participate in the Texas League All-Star Game along with two other former Redbirds in Class AA, Paul DeJong and Eric Aguilera.

The Cardinals gave up a lead in the eighth inning and spoiled a potential shutout by Adam Wainwright as the Astros completed a two-game sweep with a 4-1 win.
The Cubs surrendered leads in the 9th and 12th innings, and a double by Jayson Werth in the bottom of the 12th gave the Nationals a 5-4 win. Washington took two of three in the series between division leaders.
The White Sox are back to .500 after a 5-3 win over the Tigers. Chris Sale became the majors’ first 11-game winner.
The Blachawks have traded forwards Teuvo Teravainen and Bryan Bickell to Carolina in exchange for two draft picks. That clears up about $4 million in salary cap space for the Blackhawks.
Miami’s Ichiro Suzuki had two hits in the Marlins’ 6-3 loss to San Diego to pass Pete Rose’s career hits total of 4,256 hits. More than 1,200 of Ichiro’s hits were in Japan.
Golden State carries a 3-2 lead to Cleveland tonight for Game 6 of the NBA Finals.
