The Livingston County Board met Thursday night to discuss the prevailing wage ordinance for the county.

Board Chairman Marty Fannin explained that the motion was originally denied, but an amended motion was approved.

“We had an overwhelming number of votes not to approve that and the statement that’s being made is that Springfield should have no business telling us what we do. It’s a lot of Chicago-run politics in Springfield and you see what shape Chicago is in and we don’t want that. The motion was amended to add a protest. We wanted to make sure they knew that even though we initially voted it down, we did approve the ordinance because we have to by state statute but we protest the fact that we have to do this every year on a mandate from the State, which the State is very good about sending out unfunded mandates, which, this is one of them,” Fannin said.
