With the State of Illinois closing in on the end of the 2016 fiscal year with no budget in sight even with the deadline for the 2017 budget on the horizon, area leaders are worried of the fate of their programs.
Pontiac District 90 Superintendent Jon Kilgore was a guest on a recent Community forum and said whether its service providers, schools or other state-run organizations they’re concerned about, people really need to start contacting local lawmakers and even the governor’s office.
“We urge our public contact our legislators and even the governor’s office and let them know we need to take care of our basic needs. It will impact us in many different ways in the long term if we don’t get a short term fix,” Kilgore said.
