More road construction and closures are coming to Livingston County this month – this time, in Dwight.
The road construction to upgrade the railroad crossings at Chippewa Street and Mazon Avenue began June 20, with the Chippewa Street crossing planned to be closed beginning July 5 through Labor Day. The Mazon Avenue crossing is planned to be closed after Labor Day.
Upgrades include installation of storm sewers, new curb and gutters, reconstructing the pavement on either side of the Mazon Avenue crossing, re-aligning the Chippewa Street crossing, asphalt resurfacing and signal work at the tracks.
Through traffic on Route 17 will be detoured around the project on Route 66 and Route 47.
The majority of the work is anticipated to be completed by Thanksgiving, with the entire project expecting to be completed May 15, 2017.
