The Cardinals hit a season-high six home runs, including two each from Matt Carpenter and Tommy Pham, in an 11-6 win at Seattle. The Cardinals are in Kansas City tonight as right-hander Adam Wainwright throws for St. Louis against Royals lefty Danny Duffy. Cards network pre-game is at 6:20 on AM-1230 WJBC.

The Cubs lost their sixth out of the last seven games with a 6-1 defeat at Miami. The Cubs lead in the National League Central shrinks to nine games over the Cardinals. The Cubs are in Cincinnati tonight as right-handers take the mound, Jake Arrieta for the Cubs and Dan Straily for the Reds.

The White Sox rode eight strong innings from Chris Sale as he became the majors’ first 13-game winner in a 5-2 victory over the Blue Jays. The Sox host the Twins tonight.

The CornBelters broke a four-game losing streak by ending their road trip with a 13-8 win over the Florence Freedom. A seven-run fifth inning that included home runs from Aaron Dudley, Nolan Meadows and R.J. Perucki opened up the lead. The Belters have today off and host the Traverse City Beach Bums for a brief three-game homestand Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

The Chiefs lost at Burlington 6-3.

Billy Hurley III won for the first time on the PGA Tour, taking the title at the Quicken Loans National at Congressional near Washington, D.C.

Tony Stewart won the NASCAR Sprint Cup event at Sonoma Raceway. It was his first win in 84 races.

Will Power won the IndyCar Road America race in Wisconsin.

In soccer, Chile won its second straight Copa America championship, beating Argentina on penalty kicks after a scoreless regulation and overtime.

The family of former Tennessee women’s basketball coach Pat Summitt says that the 64-year-old’s health is faltering as she battles Alzheimer’s disease. Her family issued a statement asking for prayers and saying that she is surrounded by the people who mean the most to her.
