Mosaic in Pontiac is holding a special Christmas in July program for all the people it serves.
Joan Carlson, community relations manager, explains the program.
“The purpose is for us to collect some items, such as paper towels, toilet paper and other types of hygiene things. This is because the individuals we serve, typically, the amount of money they receive a month is about $35. I want to share a story about Joe – one of the people we serve. He actually saves $25 of that money so he can go to camp this summer. That leaves $10. Can you imagine spending $10 a month (on those day to day items)? I could spend that in a day … or two, if I stretch it,” Carlson said.
