Streator’s 30th year of Fourth of July celebrations continues this weekend with a carnival, fireworks and parade through Sunday.

Rob Tyne, one of the celebration’s organizers, described some of the festivities.

“These are the best fireworks south of Chicago with the company that does the fireworks for the Chicago White Sox at Cellular field, which is supposed to be bigger and better than ever before because of our 30th anniversary. This is followed by our parade on Sunday, in which we draw our auto lotto, which helps support our fireworks, where you can buy tickets for $20 with a chance to buy a brand new car, a Harley Davidson, farm equipment and/or $14,000 in cash,” Tyne said.

The fireworks will begin at dusk Saturday with seating available at Streator Township High School.
