While a new game called Pokemon GO is becoming widely popular with people who are fans of the longtime franchise, there are ups and downs to playing the game.
Described as a GPS scavenger hunt using an app on cellular phones, this game requires movement from its players and Pontiac Police Chief Jim Woolford has some advice for players.
“The positive is, young people are out moving around and exercising, which is a great thing. The negative is, is that a lot of parents aren’t really educated in what the game entails. It’s important to know that, in that game, you have to go to public places to try to find these Pokemon and catch them. You should be aware of your surroundings, move with your head up, not looking at your device while you’re trying to cross streets. And your parents should know where they’re going and what they’re doing so they’re not going to areas that are unsafe or dangerous,” Woolford said.
