The Livingston County Fair begins bright and early Monday morning at the Livingston County 4-H Park and two portions that make up that fair will keep attendees busy through Thursday.
Dustin Smith, vice president of the Livingston County Ag Fair Board, said aside from livestock judging, the group will also offer several activities, including old favorites and new ones.
“Some of the things that are coming back this year is the Monster Truck show on Thursday night, and we’ve also added it as a show on Wednesday night. Both nights are big nights. Also, the crowd pleaser last year was the local Tough Truck challenge. That’s anyone local who wants to race a truck or car or van or whatever they want. They’ll have three runs. The winner for each night will win a four foot tall trophy plus, I think there’s a small purse that put together for it,” Smith said.
Along with the Ag Fair, the 4-H Fair will include project judging continuing through Monday and projects will remain up for the public to see through Thursday. Alcha Corban, 4-H Educator for the University of Illinois Extension for Livingston County, gave some highlights for projects the public can view.
“They’re going to do a ‘Making a lightning bug’ activity and a garden scavenger hunt. We’ve got the fashion review on Wednesday at 1 p.m. so the kids in clothing or textiles will be modeling what they’ve made throughout the year and that will be taking place in the open pavilion with the stage,” Corban said
The Livingston County Farm Bureau will also be present at the fair with several activities for everyone.
Manager Jody Hughes said all of the activities offered by her group are free to the public.
“We are going to have our Agland Exhibit. We are going to have about five or six different activities for the kids to come through and do different things, all related to agriculture. We will be right next to the swine barn on the fairgrounds,” Hughes said.
The 4-H Park is located at 18142 4-H Park Road in Pontiac.
