The field of mental health is changing every day, and the folks at IHR in Pontiac are keeping up with trends.

A new buzzword in the field is the use of “evidence-based practices” and Joe Vaughan, executive director of IHR, explains what that means and assures us that’s what has been happening at IHR.

“Evidence-based practice is basically a standard intervention that has been used over time in our profession that we know works with certain issues, so that’s the science of it. The art of it is to figure out how to use those interventions given the client we’re working with and the situation they’re having. We’re not just robots where we can implement these types of interventions and people are going to be better. There has to be an art to it,” Vaughan said.
