One local 4-Her has taken his first year showing pigs and turned it into a plan to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps.

Nine-year-old Tristan Kindred of Pontiac was busy in the swine barn yesterday morning, but stopped to chat about what he’s learned as a 4-H member.

“I learned to be a good leader,” Kindred said.

Kindred also said he has plans to try new projects in future years.

“Small engines, because my grandpa used to work on engines,” Kindred said.

The Fair runs through tomorrow at the Livingston County 4-H Park northwest of Pontiac.
