The Illinois Chapter of the Gold Wing Road Riders are in Pontiac for a few days.

Ellie Alexander, tourism director for the city of Pontiac, explained that bringing them to Pontiac for their summer event has taken about 14 months, with several opportunities for local residents to meet the 150 to 250 participants and check out their motorcycles.

“On Friday evening, they’ll be parked around the square, where the Kiwanis Club is cooking at $10 a meal, come down and see their bikes and meet them. At 7:45, they’re going to start a parade that will head through town, and their first order of the parade is they’ll drive past the community band concert at the band shell down by the river, so if you’re at the concert, you’ll see them go by,” Alexander said.
