The Pontiac Basketball Skills Camp run by the Shaun Livingston Foundation and Pride of Peoria Basketball is set for Wednesday at Pontiac Township High School. Livingston will be joined by A.J. Guyton, Marcus Sommerville and Daniel Ruffin. 7-to-9-year-olds have a session from 9:30 till 11 followed by one for 10-year-olds through those entering 8th grade from 11:15 to 12:45. Congratulations to Jim Rhode of Dwight, honored this past weekend as the Illinois High School Association Cross Country Official of the Year. Rhode is a Pontiac Township High School graduate and currently works junior high and national events including the Chicago Marathon as well as Big 10 and Missouri Valley Conference events.

The CornBelters won their fourth straight by completing a three-game sweep of the Lake Erie Crushers with a 6-4 victory on Sunday in suburban Cleveland. The Belters continue the road trip in suburban Pittsburgh Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday against the Washington Wild Things.

The Chiefs lost at South Bend 4-3.

The Cardinals lost 9-6 in the Sunday night game to the Dodgers. Mike Mayers was called up from Triple-A for a spot start and only lasted 1 1/3 innings, giving up nine runs on eight hits including a pair of homers. The Cards visit the Mets tonight with Carlos Martinez starting on the mound for St. Louis against the Mets’ Noah Syndergaard.

The Cubs beat the Brewers 6-5 as Anthony Rizzo clubbed a three-run double as part of a five-run seventh inning. Joe Nathan took the win in his first appearance in 16 months after Tommy John surgery.

The White Sox walked off twice on the Tigers, completing a suspended game 4-3 on an Adam Eaton single and winning the regular game 5-4 when Eaton scored on a Melky Cabrera base hit. The on-field drama helped soothe off-field drama as the Sox suspended ace Chris Sale for five games for destroying throwback uniforms before Saturday’s game.

The White Sox host the Cubs tonight as Jake Arrieta throws for the North Siders and Miguel Gonzalez takes the ball for the South Siders.

Baseball’s Hall of Fame officially grew by two members on Sunday as Ken Griffey Junior and Mike Piazza were  inducted.

Kyle Busch completed his second straight sweep of NASCAR Sprint Cup and XFINITY Series races at Indianapolis.
