The Cardinals were rained out in New York on Monday, so it’s a doubleheader today against the Mets to make it up. Carlos Martinez against Noah Syndergaard in the opener followed by Jaime Garcia versus Bartolo Colon in the nightcap.
The White Sox walked off with the win for the third straight game, 5-4 over the Cubs. The Sox gave up two runs in the ninth as the Cubs tied the game, but Tyler Saladino singled home J.B. Shuck for the game-winner in the bottom of the ninth. The crosstown battle continues on the South Side tonight as Kyle Hendricks starts on the hill for the Cubs and the White Sox give the ball to James Shields.
The Cubs finalized a much-rumored deal to acquire closer Aroldis Chapman from the Yankees for four players including the Cubs’ top prospect, shortstop Gleyber Torres.
The Chiefs lost both ends of a doubleheader at South Bend 9-8 and 9-2.
The CornBelters were off Monday and continue their road trip in suburban Pittsburgh tonight against the Washington Wild Things.
