The City of Pontiac passed an annexation for Evergreen FS Monday evening.

Pontiac Mayor Bob Russell explained the annexation.

“Evergreen FS, which is currently located on North Aurora Street, submitted their final petition for annexation agreement and plans to build a new plant out north of I55 on Route 23, somewhere kind of near the landfill. We are happy about this. You drive through most cities, you’ll find all of those plants that were located in the heart of communities are now located, have now moved out of town. Because of the anhydrous and the different fertilizers, there’s always a risk the gas is in the atmosphere. So, by moving this a couple miles north, that’s a good thing for our city,” Russell said.

Russell said there is no specific timetable as to when this move will be finished.
