Summer is a time for fun, sun and mosquito-borne illnesses.
Donnie Simmons, environmental health director for the Livingston County Health Department, gave tips to help avoid those illnesses, from the West Nile Virus to LaCross encephalitis.
“The number one thing you can do is you can eliminate any source of areas in your yard that can hold water where mosquitoes can lay their eggs and larvae can produce and form the adult mosquito. It doesn’t have to be very much water – water in gutters that have been stopped up, just a little drinking cup of water can hold enough water,” Simmons said.
