The CornBelters bounced back with a 5-2 win over the River City Rascals at the Corn Crib. The Belters now own the final wild card spot by one game over Gateway, two-and-a-half over Washington and three games over River City. The Belters are off today and tomorrow before a Wednesday doubleheader at Florence.

The Chiefs were shutout by Quad Cities 4-0.

Illinois Wesleyan men’s basketball recorded the second blowout win in Spain, 87-41 over Club Basquet Gava in Barcelona.

The Cardinals rallied with five runs in eighth inning for a 6-4 win over the Cubs in the Sunday night game to earn a split in the four-game series.

The White Sox lost at Miami 5-4 as Christian Yelich gunned down Carlos Sanchez from left field at the plate for the final out.

The Cardinals, Cubs and White Sox all have today off. The Cardinals visit Houston starting tomorrow, the Cubs host the Brewers tomorrow in a day-night doubleheader and the White Sox begin a series tomorrow in Cleveland.

The man dubbed the fastest in the world is the first one to win three straight Olympic 100-meter titles. Usain Bolt edged Justin Gatlin of the United States for his seventh Olympic gold medal.

Simone Biles won the women’s vault for her third gold of the Olympics.

Andy Murray of Great Britain won gold in the men’s tennis singles with a four-set victory over Juan Martin Del Potro of Argentina while fellow countryman Justin Rose won the gold in men’s golf.

Ryan Moore won the John Deere Classic in the Quad Cities for his fifth PGA Tour title.
