The Special Olympics Illinois Heartland/Area 6 annual Bowling Tournament is happening Saturday in Peoria at Landmark Lanes.
Team members from Peoria, McLean, Tazwell, Mason, Woodford, DeWitt and Livingston counties will be competing in several variations of bowling and Jordan Vose, Area 6 Manager, explains how it all works and how people can get involved.
“Bowling is one of our biggest sports, because it allows for a lot of athletes to participate because of the range of ability level. So, we have ramp bowling for the athletes in wheel chairs or athletes just learning to bowl. Then we also have double bowling and team bowling with teams of four. This Saturday, we’ll have about 30 athletes bowling. People can come and watch to see the event and watch the bowlers and athletes and how hard they work. People can also volunteer,” Vost said.
